Yasmien Kurdi
In the name of love - Special Edition

Fans can't seem to get enough of Yasmien Kurdi, which is why GMA Records has decided to release an AVCD version of In The Name Of Love album. Considered as one of the more well-rounded young stars these days, Yasmien has found her niche in music. Despite her hectic schedules and workload, she has transformed herself into a teen pop princess with her debut effort.

For her debut album, Yasmien portrayed her brighter side, one that is genuinely appealing to her solid fan base. After its release, In The Name Of Love garnered abundant citations under its belt, owing mostly to the album's generally sleek, pop-oriented direction. The first two tracks are rousing, indicating Yasmien's arrival with a bang as both became instant favorites and theme songs of celebrated Asianovelas Sweet 18 and Frog Prince. Penned by Rebel Magdagasang, I Know kicks off the album and astonishingly succeeds in establishing Yasmien as a pop sweetheart with an expressive simplicity present throughout the song.

Title track In The Name Of Love continues the recurrent theme of love. Yasmien's voice is apparently stronger than most singers of her caliber; she never holds back and harnesses that intense vocal strength in the song's crescendo. Unexpectedly, Enjoy & Ride sees Yasmien venturing into the reins of dance pop, collaborating with Ghost 13. It's a pleasant midtempo ditty filled with its share of catchy beat. Mamahalin and Patuloy Pa Rin maintains the constant ballad supply this time courtesy of veteran Freddie Saturno.

The comical and stimulating Umaambisyon , written and produced by Kedy Sanchez, is a nice fresh song and one of the best in the album, with striking musical arrangements giving it ample grit and edge. Accompanied with an equally fascinating video, Yasmien playfully teases "Umaambisyon ka na naman sa'kin/ At baka mapanalunan na ngayon ang puso ko," which exceptionally portrays her bubbly personality.

Kunwari Lang Ba and Sa Akin Lang Sana provides more opportunities for Yasmien to flaunt powerful vocals yet keeping it strangely enjoyable, avoiding the shrill warbling that has dominated the radio these days. Another Ghost 13 collaboration is Ikaw Pa Rin Sa Akin , this time with a smoother and soulful treatment. Manunumbalik Lamang presents a mature Yasmien; she unexpectedly sings with depth and passion different from the previous tracks. Clearly, showing fans and critics of her flexibility.

Looking at the album cover one gets the idea that despite her sweet innocent image, Yasmien's career in music has never been in doubt. In fact, she's only just begun. And with it, we look forward to greater and grander things from her. The AVCD album features the music videos of I Know, In The Name Of Love , and Umaambisyon.
