Jennylyn Mercado
After revealing her traumatic childhood experiences in “Magpakailanman”, real-life survivor and Starstruck’s first female ultimate winner Jennylyn Mercado continues to live her dream as her debut album “Living the Dream” reaches the Gold Record status.
GMA Records presented her her first Gold Record award in SOP Gigsters where Jennylyn is one of the mainstays. It comes as no surprise since “Living the Dream” is one of the top-selling albums in the market.
Released a few months ago, “Living the Dream” is a ten-track album that contains mostly original material. The first single “Kahit Sandali” was a chart-topper in leading radio stations nationwide, staying at the no. spot for as long as 11 weeks (the longest time a song stayed at #1 this year). The song was toppled off the charts by another track from her album, “If I’m Not In Love”, a duet with Janno Gibbs.
Hot on the heels of the #1 hits comes her latest single “Sapat Na Ang Minsan”, a soulful ballad which promises to be another most requested song in the airwaves. Aside from her singing engagements and hosting stints, Jennylyn is busy taping for her daily afternoon show Joyride where she plays a spoiled girl. She also stars in GMA’s latest primetime soap Forever in my Heart, opposite Mark Herras, where she is cast aa a teenager longing for family and genuine affection. She was also tapped to be a part of the country’s longest-running noontime show, “Eat Bulaga”.
Jennylyn’s painful revelations as a battered child shows that behind her sweet and peaceful aura is a teener made of sterner stuff who has chosen to leave her past behind, to rise above her heartbreaks and to achieve and live her dreams, thus proving to everyone that she is indeed the ultimate survivor.
Jennylyn will soon be adopting the ALAY SA BATANG PINOY of the GMA KAPUSO FOUNDATION where she will be donating part of her royalty earnings from her album and Txtube under New Media, Inc. to help battered children and the less fortunate. According to this GMA-7 teen icon, this will be a long-term on-going project for her.
