Ghost 13
Ready to haunt y'all

Kudos to the Pinoy’s inherent musicality, artists of highly varied styles easily find their niche in the local music scene. Be it Sean Paul’s reggae beat or the recent chinky-eyed mania (Pinoys, young and old alike, can readily sing Mandarin lyrics even though they don’t understand a single syllable) --- the appreciative Pinoy audience will gobble it all up.

Now, wait for a few months to roll and a new kind of sound will command your sub-conscious mind’s LSS (last song syndrome). Listen to the guy next to you while doing bench presses in the gym, to the manang in your suking tindahan, to the kids with bling-blings in your street: not only are they humming a new tune and rapping a new verse, they’d be humming and rapping in Chavacano!  Who’s to blame for the would- be popular very original, very Pinoy rap mania?

GHOST 13, the hiphop-rap group in the hood would be the culprit!

Hailing from Zamboanga, the rappers Blanktape, El Sabor, and Diorap have already conquered the airwaves and local TV scene of Western Mindanao; and they are now ready rap their way to fame in the whole Philippines! Their confidence rides on the fact that they are a fusion of different styles and cultural/ musical backgrounds. Though they admire and follow the footsteps of foreign and local rap bigwigs such as Dr. Dre, Snoopdog, Francis M. and the likes, GHOST 13 sees to it that their songs showcase the Filipino talent and who the Filipino is in his current setting.  The result? A new yet very recognizable taste for the Pinoy’s musical palate. GHOST 13 performs not only in the conventional English-Filipino, they can actually rock the house in 3 more local dialects! But rapping in the ethnic Pinoy tongues isn’t the only card up GHOST 13’s sleeve, the very theme of their songs showcase the Filipino nature of finding humor and fun in any situation under the sun. This is sure to catch the ear of Filipinos of any age and gender everywhere in our islands!

The group has indeed come a long way since they met and discovered each other’s appetite for hiphop and rap in 1999. Then individual rappers from different towns in Zamboanga, BlankTape, El Sabor and Diorap decided to form GHOST 13 and make their own statement in the Pinoy rap music scene. Eager to have their songs performed and recorded, the group became known in Western Mindanao through local noontime shows, inter- barangay beauty pageants and school functions. Then Andrew E.’s Rap Olympics in August 2001 happened and the group got their big break to make a statement amongst fellow Filipino rappers. Die- hard rap afficionados left Hard Rock Makati that August night with GHOST 13’s unique and Pinoy-flavor packed style stamped on their minds. By the time they returned to Zamboanga, GHOST 13 and their 4-language laced song Ese Amo Se (loosely translated as “’Yun! ‘Yun na nga!” in Filipino) were ruling everybody’s mouth.

Armed with talent and attitude, GHOST13 offers all this and more in their upcoming self-titled, 10-song album under GMA records. So have your ears trained to new LSS-inducing music, and tap your multi-lingual singing abilities, as GHOST 13’s very own SIMPLE, AUTHENTIC PINOYSTYLE sets to haunt y’all! Zamboangeños Representante!
