Boy 2 Quizon
Fresh Reggae Sensation

Boy 2 Quizon is not just an actor to watch out for. He is a certified recording artist as GMA Records releases his debut album entitled “Biyaheng Reggae”. The album includes unadorned yet remarkable tracks that will surely bring each listener to an adventurous ride in life. The big names in Philippine Reggae Music conspire to bring out this album that will certainly bring reggae music on higher ground.

The album features musings from acclaimed musician Artstrong Clarion who chiefly produced the album. Mainly reggae, Boy 2 showcases musical diversity through his numerous experimentations and the aid of his guest musicians. The album opens with inviting tongue-in-cheek approach for a head trip down to his reggae music lane., through the title track “Biyaheng Reggae”. He also pushes the limit in his experimentations through fusing reggae with funk and hip-hop on the lead-off cut Ragarabo”. He further talks on a very refreshing, feel good reggae love song “Para Sa ‘Yo”, which is the album’s carrier single. The song itself has a mix of old school soul grooves and showcases musical input from young reggae icon IndioI. “White Sand Beach”, which is a reggae novelty song, features  Gio Alvarez, whilst “Bulong ng Damdamin” is an inventive duo number with Ayanna Oliva. Boy 2 also shares his flare for hip-hop in the cut “Evolve It”, which features turntable actions from Red Lintag a.k.a. Red Eye. Considerably one of the stand-out tracks in the album is the reggae jazz song, “All That We Have”, which features reggae master Sammy Asuncion of Spy and Pinikpikan. Meanwhile, Boy 2 digs deep with his roots of Bob Marley influence in the soulful, bluesy and vintage song “Let It From Within”. The clashing of Boy 2’s reggae background and Nathan Azarcon’s (bassist of Bamboo) acid-jazz orientation is evident in the cut, “Straight No Chaser”.  This unique musical blendig makes the song noteworthy. Boy 2 closes his album in an uplifting note, as inspirational as it  Gets, in the song “Celebrate You Love”. This album is definitely polished and very innovative in the local music scene.

His influences range from the Father of Reggae himself Bob Marley to contemporary reggae-influenced American acts like Sean Paul and the band 311, as well as local act IndioI. His musical taste also extends to being a fan of the current hip-hop scene which is evident in some of his songs and he also confesses listening to Busta Rhymes. He performed in the musical festival Fete de la Musique where various artists from various genres gathered in festivity of songs and rhythms. Boy 2 is currently on tour to promote his debut album
