Brenan, Michael and Charmaine
Three in one Album

One need not look further to find future stars in the music industry. For one, Pinoy Pop Superstar has relatively given viewers a chance at seeing these rising idols display their brilliant and exhilarating voices. Now, audiences can relish those sumptuous singing abilities by that soulful R&B superstar or that striking songstress or that charming balladeer.

Pinoy Pop Superstar finalists Brenan Espartinez, Charmaine Piamonte, and Michael Garcia have finally braved new heights as GMA Records releases a three-in-one album titled "BMC." The record features three of the most promising singers in a single package. Currently, these three represent the musical inclinations of an ordinary Filipino music lover. There's Brenan whose groovy and smooth demeanor evokes similarities with Jay-R; Charmaine possesses the X-factor seldom seen in many of today's fresh artists; and Michael's small stature and appealing features blends well with his vintage style in music, which reminds one of a young Ogie Alcasid. It's R&B slash pop slash classic all rolled into one.

"BMC" is sprinkled with significant ditties and not just because it also contains the trio's version of "Moments of Love" but rather the way such songs successfully mix with each other. Enter lead single "Ikaw" by Brenan. At first, it seems that this emotional performance would go the way of most R&B gems but once it moves forward Brenan tremendously takes listeners towards greater shores. Unlike many before him, Brenan has flair and flash at the same time, generating enough firepower to catch audiences yet gentle enough for listeners to enjoy.

Surprisingly, Brenan showcases commendable variety as his rendition of a George Michael original is awe-inspiring. For someone so young, he is hip beyond his years. Produced by fellow artist Artstrong, Brenan's sultry take on "Careless Whisper" is perfect for all its tight, polished production. His voice, full of attitude and spunk, is cleverly delivered at just the right moment. Other notable tracks from Brenan include "Mahal Na Mahal" and a Brian McKnight classic, "Home."

The lone female in the group, Charmaine's immaculate voice does not shatter into a thousand shards that have become so prevalent in today's music. In "Bridges", she sings faultlessly, stunningly complementing the delicate piano and mellow instrumentation that achieves a pleasant yet compact track. "One Wish", "Give Your All" and her version of Fantasia Barrino's "I Believe" definitely builds more of Charmaine's vocal strength and personality as well.

While Brenan thrives on cool R&B territory and Charmaine flourishes on power ballads, Michael excels on old-school romance; the kind where one is reminded of sweet serenades as evident on "Kulang Na Lang." However, Michael departs from the old approach in "Wala Ka D'on" as he accelerates the tempo and humor as well. Supplemented with modest guitar strumming and other candid instruments, Michael gives off a fresh aura about him through this song. "Heaven Knows" is comforting and tranquil with Michael sounding more assured and at home with classic sentimentality.

Pinoy Pop Superstar gave Brenan, Charmaine, and Michael the much-needed exposure, confirming that rare talents once harnessed can create a huge impact in the music industry. And to think that this album packs a heftier punch than its contemporary compilation records is in fact a benefit for critics and audiences alike. "BMC" album is available nationwide on compact discs only from GMA Records, exclusively distributed by Ivory Music and Video.
